Car Dent Repair

On a day to day basis many minor automobile accidents occur. These accidents usually result in minor dents to both vehicles. In some cases only one vehicle is involved but maybe they reversed a bit too far and barely touched a wall behind them or a lamp post in a car park etc. Damage in these instances are relatively minor and as a result do not need heavy duty car dent repair. When these type of minor damages occur we usually see car owners behave in several different ways. Some rather just take their car to the professional as if it was a major dent and get it fixed. Some others though, who would rather not deal with the inconvenience of not having their car, would rather fix these dents themselves.

Performing car dent repair can be a useful skill to have. Especially if you are very dependent on your vehicle if you are in a one car family, or if performing your job is highly dependent on the availability of your car. These are just a few instances that pretty much force people to learn how to fix minor damages to their vehicle. The feelings that come with knowing that you fixed a minor car dent can also bring some much needed self confidence to a person. Well, let’s take a look at some of the ways that the average person can perform car dent repair.

One method of repairing your car dents is using dry ice. Let’s say you have a dent on your door. To fix this dent, apply dry ice to the dent for four to ten seconds and then leave alone. Within a few seconds to a minute the dent should pop back out. Repeat this process until the dent pops out. This method is not only very popular but very effective. It is however not the only method out there for fixing this problem.

Another method is to hold a piece of aluminum foil adjacent to the dent and heat the foil with a lighter. Do not burn the foil itself, hold the lighter next to the foil so that the heat from the flame is transferred to the foil and then transferred to the dent. The foil acts as a protective layer between the flame and the paint of your car. After the foil has been heated for half a minute or so, remove it then quickly apply liquid air to the dent for a few seconds then leave it. The dent should pop right out. Again, with this method repeat until the dent has been removed.

In summary, these methods work well and have worked well for years. If you are caught in the unfortunate circumstance of having a small dent on your car do not fear because these are ways that you can avoid having to pay those autobody shop fees or having to be without your car for any length of time.
